About Your Visit
Prepare for Your Child’s Upcoming Wellness Appointment
When your keiki needs caring, thoughtful medical attention, the team at Wee Pediatrics, Inc. in Waipahu is here for you. With over 30 years of pediatric experience, our providers and staff welcome you like family. During your visit, we’ll take the time to answer your questions, listen to your concerns, and make sure your child feels safe and supported.
If you’re ready to schedule an appointment, give us a call at (808) 677-9988. Since opening our doors in 2011, we’ve been honored to care for families in our community. To help you prepare for your visit, please review the guidelines below.
Before You Arrive for Your Child’s Appointment
Before you even walk through the door, our clinical team is already preparing for your visit. We review your child’s chart and immunization history to make sure everything is up‑to‑date and ready for the provider.
Our front office administrator also checks the schedule a few days ahead, verifies insurance, and notes any updates from previous visits. You’ll receive a friendly reminder call, text, or email so you don’t have to worry about forgetting your appointment.
We encourage you to look over your health plan before your visit to understand what’s covered—such as sick visits, wellness exams, and immunizations—as well as your copay, co‑insurance, and deductible. Payments are due at the time of service.
If you need to cancel, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a no‑show fee. And if you’re running late, just give us a quick call so we can let you know if we’re able to keep your appointment or if we’ll need to reschedule.
What to Expect at the Reception Desk
When you arrive, please check in with our front office administrator and provide a picture ID. If you’ve had any recent changes—like a new address or insurance—just let us know. We confirm your contact information at every visit so we can reach you when needed.
After checking in:
- You’ll receive any required forms to complete
- Copays or balances will be collected
- You’ll be checked into our system
We do our best to keep wait times short. Even if there are a few forms to fill out, our goal is to get you and your child seen as soon as possible.
While You’re in the Waiting Room
While you’re waiting, please know that our Medical Assistants and providers are actively caring for other patients. Sometimes multiple providers are seeing patients at the same time, so you may notice others being called back before you. This usually means they’re seeing a different provider on a different schedule.
For new patients and physicals, we ask that you arrive 30 minutes early. For follow‑ups or sick visits, please arrive 15 minutes early. This gives you time to complete paperwork, update information, and allows our MA to triage your child without rushing.
If you’d like to get a head start, you can download and complete your Registration Forms and Health Screener Forms before your visit.
Speaking With the Medical Assistant (MA)
When you and your child are called from the waiting room, the MA will triage the patient by taking their height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, etc., and ask necessary medical questions. Please hand over any requested forms to be signed by the pediatrician to the MA. The MA will also be collecting all completed health screeners to give to the pediatrician before seeing the patient.
Seeing Your Child's Provider
Our provider will review your child’s chart, ask questions about their health, and start the exam. Once the exam is complete, they will confirm whether your child need immunizations, testing, or further treatment. Your provider will inform you of any further steps that need to be taken.
Checking Out After the Appointment
Once the exam and treatment are complete, the Medical Assistant will check you out in the exam room. You'll schedule a follow-up appointment or the next wellness exam if needed, and be given any forms you needed completed, along with your AVS (After Visit Summary).
For patients who have not yet paid their copay or balances at the beginning of the visit, please proceed to the front office so that payment can be collected.
